I have a Short GN in mind like 32-40 pages maybe less, maybe more. That I want to do based on something that happened in Japan in 1868. It's about a samurai who killed himself in the honorable way of Seppuku before the graves of the 47 Ronin.
Here's the story the historical parts.
In the month of September 1868, a certain man came to pray before the grave of Oishi Chikara. Having finished his prayers, he deliberately performed Seppuku and, the belly wound not being mortal, dispatched himself by cutting his throat. Upon his person were found papers setting forth that, being a Ronin and without means of earning a living, he had petitioned to be allowed to enter the clan of the Prince of Choshu, which he looked upon as the noblest clan in the realm; his petition having been refused, nothing remained for him but to die, for to be a Ronin was hateful to him, and he would serve no other master than the Prince of Choshu: what more fitting place could he find in which to put an end to his life than the graveyard of these Brave 47 Ronin?
I wanted to know if anyone would be interested in working on something like this...I want to fill in the blanks basically the meat and cheese to the bread above and do a cool yet respectful take on that story. I want to do my own version of the events adding romance, drama and of course sweet Samurai Action.....
Unfortunately no up front pay...To be honest I am already paying another artist to do a book for me and its not cheap as you all know...I am willing to work something out with an artist...as in back pay or a split in the rights...I know money talk but I want to create art and do the best damn samurai story I can....
I don't have a start date yet but let me know if anyone would be interested. I at least want to get 5 pages done to shop it around but if I can't get anyone to publish it I will self publish in small #'s (500-1000).
The book will be in B&W unless I can get a publisher to do it in color but I think the B&W would give more to the mood and keep cost down.
