Hey there fellow Roninites!

Another month come and gone, and it's time for the monthly update of where we are, where we're going, and things in the works.

First off for those not able to keep up on all the comings and going there have been three MAJOR developments in the last few weeks.

First off is the new printer/distributor.

We've got some books ordered through them, and so far the outlook is good for quality. They also offer poster, t-shirt, hat, and decal services as well. I'm talking to them now about these to find out quality, pricing, etc.
The biggest news on this front is that they have a distribution catalog much like Previews that reaches 14,000 stores. Comic, book, and super markets. This would mean a huge increase in the areas we could get Ronin books offered to consumers.

Second is the possibility of getting Ronin books into over seas markets. We've been approached by a company that is looking to aquire Ronin books to distribute in Bulgaria. We don't know all the details yet, but Craig, Nathan, and myself are meeting with them in Chicago in August to hammer out the details. If anything new pops up in the meantime we'll keep you posted.

Third is Dandelion has been picked up by Arcana studios! This is great news for the team, and it just proves to the rest of us that with a solid product the publishers will stand up and take notice. Congrats to the creative team, and hopefully more Ronin books will follow suit.

Now on to the less big, but no less important announcements :)

Got the invoices for Ronin Illi #3, and Prey yesterday, so both of these books should be available any day now.

Craig informs me that Tyr #2 should be up any day now as well.

Somnia is on track to be released in July/August. Full color, 64 pages of Ronin goodness.

There's a new way to find an artist for your project.

just go into the writers/stories without artists threads. There are samples of an artists' work, along with the types of stories they'd like to work on. If you don't see a story by their name that means they are open. Then you just contact me, I'll approach them about working on the story. Simple as that ;)

Ronin Illustrated #4 is almost finished and should be off to the printers in about a week. Same with Varied Scaries #2.

Ronin Illustrated is booked up to issue 8! We've got stories to last us into the mid teens, but these stories are in various stages of development. Once it's booked however, it's locked. So if you're looking to get a story into Ronin illustrated get in contact with me as slots are filling up fast. We've got a lot of really great stories coming down the pipe. We're finally getting past our birthing pangs of production, and the ins and outs of creating comics, and it's really starting to show, as everything is really coming together nicely.

The Tsunami anthology is moving along nicely and is on track for an October release if everything keeps moving smoothly.

Bits and Pieces #2 is nearing completion and will have a Maniac Con cover by Donal Delay. Look for it in June at Wiz Philly.

Dragonfyre #1 is being grayscaled now and should make its grand debut at Wizphilly as well.

Wizard World Chicago looks like it's going to be the grand daddy of all Ronin events. With four artists alley tables, over 30 creators scheduled to make an appearance and at least 25 books for sale, we'll be hitting the convention with both guns blazing. Speaking of which Friday night of the convention in the Knuckles sports bar will be the 1st annual Ronin bash. A chance to hobknob with fellow creators, let your hair down, and do horribly embarrassing things. There's not a lot of time during the day at the conventions to talk shop, so this will give us ample time to unwind. And possible be nude in public

Let's not forget Wizphilly either.

If you plan on going and purchasing a table, I need your forms and money soon. I'm going to send off the forms, and payment for Wizphilly by April 10th. I'll be sending it off the 15th. This is my first year at Philly, so it should be a lot of fun!

We have an imprint for our new super hero projects titled Atomic Toybox. So if you have an idea for a new super hero project, or if you're an aritst looking to work on super hero books contact Gregg Paulson the editor for the line at insanityGP@aol.com

Just to whet your whistles, after Varied Scaries wraps up with issue #4, editor Thommy Melanson has something HUGE in the works. It's way too early to release any details yet, just know that some name professionals will be working with the studio soon.

I'm still accepting submissions for the Ronin Primer CD which will be available at Wizphilly, and all conventions after wards. If you're interested in getting a five page preview of your project included just drop me a line.

I've been hearing more and more from industry professionals(both pro and indie) that Ronin Studios is what Image said it was going to be, but wasn't. A place where people with stories to tell can come to tell them. Regardless of what that story is. It's really great to hear that our peers and role models 'get' what we're doing here, and support us.

With that I'm out for the month. As always, if you have updates to add that I missed, or release dates I wasn't aware of, feel free to post away!

Hey, total newbie here. I've got a couple of questions about how this all works. Is there a thread with a breakdown of how a book gets submitted, reviewed and accepted? Is there a contract? Are there limitations to what we can do with characters/books if Ronin is the publisher? Do we need to have a story idea accepted before we can contact an artist?

Thanks for any and all answers.

The yet unnamed World War II anthology is shaping up nicely. Almost all scripts are turned in now, a lot of creative teams have been formed already, the cover is in the pencil stages. (Noble, what's the word on Vincente?)

We also have a contribution by industry professionals Chris Yost and Freddie Williams in the book, which makes me very happy.

Expect to see the anthology at Wizard World Chicago, and more information about the progress we're making in the future.

For those still interested, the script deadline has been extended till April 10th. This gives you another week if you still want to write a script. For those who'd like to have more than 1 story in the book, feel free to send in what you've got.

(My email is tom.mauer.1977@gmail.com for those who don't like to send emails through the forums.)

Love the idea that we maybe getting a deal in Bulgaria. European countries tend to be less restrictive on certain subjects (like sex and violence) which, in many cases, will allow creators the freedom they crave. But, as we all know, good stories and good art is what makes the comics world go round. Marc out

For those of you not aware, a new anthology is in the works, tentatively titled "Ronin, BC" As you may have guessed, all the stories within take place way back before, well you know, the ol' Common Era. We're experimenting with a new workshop system on that book, so we're gonna need a forum for it fast. In fact I'm going to type that in another paragraph:

We need a forum for it fast.

You hear that Craig?!

Hey Noble can you talk more about the Ronin Primer CD? I kinda vaguely remember something from the previous board.
